We will fly you to Miami, direct from London - it really is just like it looks in Miami Vice, CSI Miami or all of those rap videos you love! Here we’ll pick up our Harley-Davidsons and head north to Daytona. The interesting way, via Lake Okechobee. After a full-on weekend, with optional ride outs each day to Cape Canaveral, Orlando and the orange groves, our touring moves up a gear. Itinerary

DAY 1 Fly to Miami. We fly direct from Heathrow to Miami this afternoon, where our guides Andy and Petra will meet and transfer you to our tour hotel. We’ll have a chance to get to know each other better over our welcome dinner. Miami Beach Resort.USA - HBW2to3

DAY 2 Miami to Jensen Beach (150 miles). Our motorcycles are only a short drive away, so after an early breakfast we’re ready to roll. Today’s ride is quite straightforward as we head north. We’ll stop on the shores of Lake Okeechobee for an airboat ride and lunch, and then continue to the peace of Jensen Beach, sunshine and warm air all the way! Jensen Beach Resort.

DAY 3 Jensen Beach to Daytona Beach (150 miles). A straight ride takes us to Daytona in the morning, giving us the rest of the day to discover Daytona and plan our time here. Quality Inn..USA - HBW4to5

DAY 4 Daytona Bike Week. Apart from all the social activity at Daytona, it’s worth remembering that the event’s primary focus historically is racing. So, don’t forget that as you get bewitched by the human and mechanical eye candy that abounds. While here, we will also arrange a ride out to Cape Canaveral and Ocala National Forest, both world’s away from the full-on atmosphere in Daytona.

DAY 5 Daytona Bike Week. As many riders head home, we spend the day either chilling by the beach, or taking a short ride.

DAY 6 Daytona Beach to Orlando (70 miles). After a final morning in Daytona, we leave after lunch and head for Orlando. Peabody Hotel.

DAY 7 Orlando to Naples (220 miles). Today’s ride takes us across to the Gulf Coast at Naples. Naples is the crown jewel of southwest Florida, nestled on the sundrenched beaches of The Gulf of Mexico, a splash with water lovers and recreationists alike. There’s a nice relaxed feel to the resort after the buzz of Bike Week. Inn at Pelican Bay.

DAY 8 Naples to Key West (275 miles). Our morning’s ride takes us through Everglades National Park. Covering over 1.5 million acres at the far southwestern tip of mainland Florida, the Everglades National Park protects the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. A fair portion of the park is actually underwater, and the entire Everglades ecosystem basically a giant, slow-flowing river that is 50 miles wide, but averaging only a few inches deep. The Everglades are under constant threat, yet seem to vibrate with life. Some 300 species of birds breed here, as do 600 different kinds of fish and animals, ranging from rare manatees to abundant alligators. We’ll stop for a ride on the powerful swamp boats with their big V8 engine power, take a short trail and see how the local Native Americans lived in this fragile habitat.

We then pick up Highway 1 at Florida City, gateway to the Keys. All the way along the overseas highway (as Hwy 1 is known) the roadside is lined by marker posts counting down the miles from Florida City to Key West, addresses usually make reference to these numbers. The overseas highway is the very southern section of US 1, the historic route that winds for over 2,400 miles along the full length of the east coast. From its very inception, this highway has been unique. We then head to Key Largo, whichoffers many interesting sights, such as the original African Queen.

The overseas highway now affords longer glimpses of water that shift from emerald green to azure blue. At mile marker 59 we reach the Dolphin Research Center – well worth the visit – President Carter, Jimmy Buffet, Arnold Schwarzenegger and numerous others have all swum with dolphins here. En route to Key West we cross dozens of bridges, pass over harbours, view the Atlantic waters on one side and the Florida Bay on the other. The Keys are as much Caribbean as Floridian, and you can’t get this far from the American mainstream without leaving the country anywhere else. Key West itself is quite unique, a laid back community, and still one of the most lively and anarchic places in the USA. Sights of interest ranging from Ernest Hemingway’s home and the famed Sloppy Joe’s Bar, to the Edison Home and a chance to get your photo taken at the end of the road, the southernmost point in the United States. Crowne Plaza la Concha.

DAY 9 Key West (free day). There are few places in the USA that are better for just relaxing and having a good time. So we thought, why not let you appreciate all that the Florida Keys have to offer. So we have, we’ll be on hand to advise, help and arrange. Farewell Dinner tonight. Crowne Plaza La Concha.

DAY 10 Key West to Miami (160 miles). There is simply no choice, we have to ride back along this amazing road, still one of HOG’s 10 best rides in the USA. We enter Miami through Coral Gables. Founded nearly 100 years ago (!) this is the ‘old money’ district of Miami, with an elegant Main Street and villas. Miami Beach is the “Miami” you know, a string of islands separating Biscayne Beach Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. A hundred years ago this was just a mangrove swamp until some developers dredged up sand from the ocean floor, paved the swamp and turned it into a tropical getaway. Now it is a restored Art Deco paradise. Due to heavy traffic, riding around in Miami isn’t a great idea, but if we have time we’ll try and take in South Beach before returning our motorcycles. Then it is back to the airport for our evening flight home.

DAY 11 Arrive London. Our flight arrives early this morning, and we all say our final farewells – until we meet again!
