Riding a snowmobile Its very easy and requires no special skills or vehicle license. Speed is controlled by a thumb-activated throttle. Braking is done with one hand while steering takes place through a handle bar. Alpine snowmobiling also requires much steering by weight and an active riding position, thus we recommend riders to be in good physical shape. SNO-FAQ

Experience Both of our tours are designed for beginners, and Snowmobile Paradise is also suitable for experienced riders with little or no mountain experience. We also have two tours designed for expert riders, featuring lots of steep slopes, powder snow and hard riding. Please contact us for details of these ‘expert’ tours..

Our snowmobiles As a beginner or intermediate you will start on our 550cc Summit machines, but may be allowed or encouraged to upgrade to the 600 cc, 128 bhp XP, the 800cc, 151 bhp XP Everest, and (highly unlikely unless you are already an expert) the ‘hi-performance’ X-800.

Vehicle insurance All prices include basic snowmobile insurance, plus CDR (collision damage reduction). If you do not wish to take out CDR please deduct £15.00/day from the tour price. Without CDR the damage excess on the snowmobile insurance is C$2500 for 550 and 600 cc machines, and C$3000 for 800 ccp, with CDR the excess is C$500 / C$1000 respectively. This is required as a security deposit (payable by credit or charge card) when you collect the snowmobile.

Flights Flights can be booked through H-C Travel. Calgary and Vancouver are served by charter and scheduled services from the UK. Kelowna, the closest airport to Revelstoke, is served by Air Canada via Vancouver. Flight prices vary throughout the season for both charter and scheduled flights. For example, charter prices currently range from about £400 to £650 economy return, and scheduled fares range from about £500 to £900 economy return (taxes included), depending on the date of departure and the duration of your holiday.

Transfers From Kelowna (2 hours to Revelstoke), ‘Meet & Greet’ shuttle departs every Thursday, Friday and Sunday 18.30, returning to Kelowna 16.00, £54 per person each way. We can also arrange car hire in Calgary, Kelowna and Vancouver, or transfers by Greyhound bus. Private group transfers by minibus (max 12 guests) can be arranged on request.

Pre- and Post-tour accommodation and activities Reservations for pre- and post-tour accommodations can be made at the time of booking. Additional nights at the Glacier house Resort in a lodge room are £66/p/nt halfboard. We can also offer special rates for hotels in Vancouver, Calgary and Banff. And we can also combine your snowmobiling holiday with a skiing or other winter holiday holiday in any of the Canadian Rockies winter resorts (such as Whistler or Banff)

Meals All our snowmobile tours include breakfast, lunch and dinner on all riding days. Lunches are usually enjoyed on the mountain or in a cabin and consist of a large sandwich, cold or hot drink, fruit, and snacks. On some days, guests will enjoy our famous ‘wiener’ cook-outs on the mountain for lunch as well. A full American breakfast is served at the hotel. We’ll also give you a welcome drink and dinner on arrival, and appetizers every day on your return from a hard day’s ride.

Clothing You've probably already worked out that it's going to be pretty damn cold in Canada in winter - average winter temperatures range between 0 and -10 ºC. So, to make sure you’re well-dressed for your adventure, we provide weatherproof snowmobiling suits to keep you nice and warm. However, you must bring your own gloves. And you probably won't be in your snowsuit all the time, so make sure you pack plenty of warm clothes. We suggest something along the following lines. Long cotton underclothing, or sports clothes (e.g., track suit), thick socks, turtleneck pullovers, silk or woollen gloves, a woollen hood or scarf and hat, changes of clothing, a swimming costume, a camera, a winter coat, casual clothes and a pair of trousers/slacks. Don’t forget your wash kit/toilet bag, suntan lotion and sunglasses, camera, and national driving license.

We recommend you use a large holdall, sports bag or a similar soft flexible bag for your clothing.

Participant requirements To maximize the enjoyment of mountain snowmobiling, we advise all guests to be in reasonable physical shape. Mountain snowmobiling may be physically demanding depending on weather conditions. Pre-tour fitness exercises should include general aerobic work-outs, and arm, upper leg and back strengthening exercises.

Non-riding partners Non-riding partners are welcome to join our activities like X-country skiing, snow-rafting, snow-shoeing, downhill skiing, sightseeing, scenic flights, shopping and hot tubs, or book or spa programme.

Children Children under 12 stay and ride free with parents.

Group incentives Get a group of your friends and/or family together for a trip, and receive outstanding benefits in the form of discounts and free sled upgrades. Put 5 or 10 or 20 riders together and reap the benefits…. It makes sense to persuade your friends to come along!

Liability In winter sports and activities certain risks are involved and therefore all participants must acknowledge this by reading and signing our booking form and also a liability waiver in Canada. We advise clients to take out our travel insurance or your own equivalent or better cover, which must include cancellation and medical insurance for motorised winter sports. Weather conditions in the mountains may lead to changes in the programme, without the right to rebate.

Travel insurance Compulsory. Available through H-C Travel.
