MEX - SanMiguelArranging New Year motorcycle tours is an almost impossible task. However, the one we do run is definitely worth its unique status – the New Year in San Miguel tour to Mexico. So, if you are looking for something a little different for your coming New Year celebrations, then we have the perfect motorcycle tour for you. The charming colonial town of San Miguel de Allende is a great place to ring in the New Year!

San Miguel de Allende is one of Mexico's most popular colonial towns. Many Americans winter in this charming village because of its delightful climate, artist community and Spanish language schools. A national Colonial Monument by decree, the town is required by law to retain its Old World architecture and character. Here you'll experience the feel of a bygone era…a town that unites its community with inspiring plazas, markets and cobblestone streets. Be sure you take an evening break in the central zocalo plaza where, with the setting sun, locals gather in a ritual graced by the sounds of ringing bells from the beautiful church of San Miguel.

More than just a trip to San Miguel; this is a well-rounded tour, travelling through the culturally rich Bajio region of central Mexico. A highlight is the town of Zacatecas, another Old World gem. Here you'll come to know the role that General Pancho Villa played during the Mexican revolution, overtaking a large force of Federales, opening the door to his conquest of Mexico City. With a rich mining heritage and fascinating colonial architecture, this is just one of Mexico's many great treasures.

Count on this being a most memorable event with a New Year's fiesta reserved for you. Join locals for fireworks on the plaza and tasty traditional seasonal foods that fuel the mind and body for the fiesta. Happy New Years! A New Year celebration in this romantic and fun little Spanish colonial era town will be one you'll always remember. This is a slightly modified version of our very popular Colonial Tour. lnvite all your riding friends and please book early.

Highlights

  • The Central regions of Old Mexico are often referred to as the Bajio and it is here where you will discover that taste of Europe south of the Rio Grande. You are constantly made aware of Old World influences by encounters with Spanish and Moorish architecture evident in the churches, monasteries and fortresses
  • San Miguel de Allende has become the most popular "US expat" scene in Mexico attracting artists, romantics and those who are seeking the tranquility of a more laid back and typically Mexican lifestyle. We will provide a memorable fiesta for New Year as well as organize day rides to nearby Guanajuato and other points of interest.
  • The Sierra Gorda. Riding along the trail of Father Junipero Serra, the Sierra Gorda offers some of Mexico's finest motorcycling roads. Rising from an arid desert encircled by jagged towering mountains you will soon be in cool pine forests. A descent to the tropical eastern slopes of the region inhabited by the Huasteca Indians will no doubt be counted as one of your most spectacular rides.
  • Xilitla (sh-leet-la) is a small village in the Sierra Gorda. The enchanting jungle art of Las Pozas, the creation of eccentric English nobleman Edward James (1907-1984), is one of those bizarre encounters that make international travel so fun and interesting.
  • The Hacienda Santa Engracia has been a favourite stop of ours for many years. It is an authentic relic of the 17th century that provides the perfect Old Mexico setting for your final night south of the Rio Grande.
