  • Chiang Mai

    Day 1

    Chiang Mai (Thailand)

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, offering you time to relax, or take a little stroll through town. This evening you will be joined by the rest of the group for a welcome dinner in one of the local riverside restaurants, before a visit to the famous Night Bazaar.

    Day 2

    Chiang Mai – Chiang Kong

After breakfast you collect your motorcycle and head north towards Chiang Rai. On the way, dip your toes or take a swim in the Pha Soet hot springs, where you can actually cook eggs, before visiting Wat Rong Kuhn (better known as the famous White Temple.) Then enjoy the serene beauty as you ride through the Golden Triangle, formerly notorious for its opium production. Follow the Mekong river for 50 km downstream to Chiang Khong, the gateway to Indochina and border town for Laos. On arrival in Chiang Kong there is free time to explore this charming town.

    Day 3

Chiang Kong – Luang Namtha (Laos)

On completion of border formalities we cross the Mekong river into Laos. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the beauty of the Laos countryside, on a newly built road, passing by villages and spectacular mountain scenery before arriving in Luang Namtha, a small town near the Chinese border. From a temple located on a hill you can enjoy a fantastic view just before sunset.

    Day 4

    Luang Namtha – Nong Khiaw

Today follow a small paved road for 230km passing through countless villages and across the mountains of northern Laos. We stop overnight spot on the shores of the north Nam Ou River surrounded by jungle forest and steep limestone cliffs. Enjoy another spectacular sunset backdrop, perhaps whilst sipping a sundowner!

    Day 5

    Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang

The ride today takes you through amazing valleys towards Luang Prabang. Arrive early afternoon and check into a guesthouse located on the banks of the river Kan. Spend this afternoon exploring this fascinating and very beautiful town. It has over 30 Wats (temples) and is a centre for Buddhist learning within Laos. The crumbling French colonial architecture and surrounding natural beauty make a fantastic backdrop to your evening, maybe even take a swim in the Mekong.

    Day 6

    Luang Prabang

The day is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might like to make your way to the beautiful Kuang Si Falls in the morning. And back in Luang Prabang there is so much to see including The Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995 – Wat Phoui temple or just relax and people watch from one of the local cafes. This evening enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants on the Mekong riverbank.

    Day 7

    Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng

Heading south you leave Luang Prabang behind and travel into the scenic Vientiane Province. Passing waterfalls before riding winding pass roads to the picturesque town of Vang Vieng, on the banks of the Nam Song River. This higgledy-piggledy town, known for its adventure activities, is surrounded by soaring limestone mountains with needle-like tops. It is in a stunning setting with the river flowing through and takes on a mystical air at sunset.

    Day 8

    Vang Vieng – Xayaboury

Spend today riding past magnificent landscapes, crossing the highest pass on the tour at over 1800 meters. The area is rugged and mountainous with many forested parts. Look out for elephants en route before arriving in the charming town of Xayaboury.

    Day 9

    Xayaboury – Pau

Travel over narrow and winding mountain roads with a jungle landscape which leads back to the Thailand border. Once across we take a short ride to Pua. This market town is fairly remote, located high up in the mountains, surrounded by rice fields and therefore not often frequented by foreign tourists.

    Day 10

    Pau – Phayao

Another great day of riding through winding roads (one of which has been voted Top 10 of the most beautiful motorbike roads in the world), surrounded by fantastic mountain landscapes and little traffic. Early evening reach your overnight stop of Phayao on the banks of a beautiful lake.

    Day 11

    Phayao – Chiang Mai

Our final day heading back towards for Chiang Mai. We make the most of the ride enjoying the last of the winding roads and a beautiful waterfall along the way. In Chang Mai spend some time exploring or just relax by the pool before this evening’s farewell dinner.

    Day 12
