  • Day 1

    Chiang Mai

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, in the heart of Chiang Mai. The rest of the day is for you to relax and unwind, sightseeing, shopping or relaxing by the pool. In the evening enjoy your welcome dinner at a riverside restaurant and then visit the famous night bazaar.

    Day 2

Chiang Mai – Mae Malai (90% off road)

Head out, possibly in old Willys, to your base camp in Mae Malai, about 30 km north of Chiang Mai. After checking out your riding gear and the motorcycles, there’s a safety briefing. Then you can head out for a ride in the surrounding mountain area! This will give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the bike and the local riding conditions. You can modify the bike’s set up if needed. This evening there’s a barbecue.

    Day 3

Mae Malai – Mae Cham (160 km, 50% off road)

After breakfast, set off up into the mountains again. Your first stop is at an elephant camp before turning off the tarmac and taking a trail to a tribal village. Then it’s on to Doi Inthanon National Park. It’s an enjoyable twisty ride to the top of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. The views from the top are spectacular. Descend the mountain and head off road again on some great trails and a river crossing.

    Day 4

Mae Cham – Pai (160 km, 80% off road)

Today is a long day in the saddle, as you ride over 100 km of trails to Pai, a small-town known for its hot springs, and for being one of Thailand’s best beauty spots. This is trail riding at its purest and most enjoyable, and you have a number of options depending on local conditions and rider ability.

    Day 5

Pai (100 km loop, all narrow tarmac)

Riding around here is so good that today is spent exploring around Pai. The town is surrounded by the scenic Huai Nam Dang National Park, which stretches to the Burmese border to the north and west. Enjoy a visit to the largest cave in southeast Asia with its magnificent stalagmites and stalactites. Take the opportunity to visit some beautiful waterfalls, gorges and mountain trails.

    Day 6

Chiang Dao (150 km, 60% off road)

Another great day’s off roading, through Huai Nam to Chiang Dao. Today provides a choice of routes, all with great riding and beautiful scenery. For example, the mountain trails of Doi Chiang Dao.

    Day 7

Chiang Dao – Chiang Mai (200 km road with optional off-road loops if time permits).

Your last day is another good day’s riding, with several possible routes back to Chiang Mai, depending on your wishes and the weather. The riding follows the Ping and Taeng river valleys with their wooded banks and waterfalls. You arrive back in Chiang Mai in the early afternoon, in time for flights to Bangkok that evening. Or if you want to stay, there’s time for sightseeing, bargain hunting or just relaxing by the pool. We look forward to welcoming you on another exciting motorcycle tour soon!

In the same year he founded a motorcycle garage in Chiang Mai together with his friend “Joe” Sauerborn, which also offered motorcycle rentals.
In 1994 Walter founded the oldest legally registered motorcycle tour company in Northern Thailand, and in 1995 H-C Travel teamed up with Walter to offer British riders the opportunity to discover the off-road delights of Northern Thailand.
Walter married Joang in 2001 and, in between looking after their pot–bellied pigs, she manages the business day to day. They are both committed to making your time in Thailand fun, safe, exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. We know you won’t be disappointed!
