Motorcycling through Chile and Argentina will be some of the greatest biking moments of your life. This adventure is a scenic overload; beginning in the Chilean Lakes district town of Pucón, ride into Argentina and onto Bariloche, via the famous seven lakes ride, every inch is a scenic splendour. No motorcycle tour to this region should miss the incredible Moreno Glacier, ride your bike out to this staggeringly beautiful part of Patagonia before riding into Torres Del Paine National Park with its deep blue glaciers and lakes. This is an incredible motorcycle tour through some of the most amazing, remote and mythical regions in the world.

  • Day 1

    Santiago

    On arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel ready for an early start in the morning. Meet with the crew and the rest of your group before this evening’s welcome dinner.

    Day 2

    Santiago – Pucón

    Today you will fly from the capital of Chile, Santiago, 1000 km south to Temuco. From here transfer to the tranquil, scenic town of Pucón in the famous Lakes District. Once in Pucón you will have a bike briefing and become acquainted with the bike you will be riding on tour.

    Day 3

    Pucón

    Nestled a short distance from snow-capped Volcan Villarrica, Pucón stands in the shadows of the volcano. Today, enjoy an orientation / safety-ride amongst green fields and forests so that you feel comfortable with the bike.

    Day 4

    Pucón – San Carlos de Bariloche

    As you head closer to the border, you will see the famous “monkey puzzle” trees that forest this region. The remainder of the day is spent on well-surfaced roads that take you up through the stunning Seven Lakes Route, passing through the beautiful mountain towns. This is an amazing ride; you will feel exhilarated at the end of the day.

    Day 5

    San Carlos de Bariloche

    Explore the incredible town of Bariloche, situated on the shores of a beautiful lake, ringed by lofty snow-capped peaks. Bariloche is famous for its chocolate and breath-taking scenery. You can spend an afternoon riding the legendary Circuito Chico taking in panoramic views and visiting the famous Llao Llao resort.

    Day 6

    San Carlos de Bariloche – Esquel

    Leave Bariloche, enjoying the last of the forested mountains, and move down towards the sparsely forested foothills of the Western Chubut province, arriving for a restful night at Esquel, terminus of the legendary Patagonian Express train made famous by Paul Theroux’s book of the same name.

    Day 7

    Esquel – Perito Merino

    Today descend onto the epic Patagonia Steppe and get your first experience of the real Patagonia and the legendary Ruta 40. The land starts to open out into broad, rugged plains with the Andes ever present. The road from Esquel to Rio Mayo is paved and then its approximately 130 km / 81 mi of gravel, road works, dust and corrugation.

    Day 8

    Perito Merino – Estancia La Angostura

    Leaving Perito Moreno enjoy easy asphalt for some 80 km before more of the famous dirt roads of Ruta 40. The winds can be strong, making for potentially difficult riding. The horizon seems to stretch on forever as we ride down to a beautiful and remote Estancia (Argentinean farm). Tonight is a truly unique experience with friendly hosts.

    Day 9

    Estancia La Angostura – El Chalten

    Leaving the estancia, you are on the ripio (gravel) until just before Tres Lagos, and then it’s back to the paved road to complete the ride to El Chalte a tiny peaceful village.

    Day 10

    El Chalten

    El Chalten lies in the shadows of the extraordinary towers of the Fitzroy Range within the Patagonian ice field which means today, you have time to trek into this epic mountain-scape and enjoy your surroundings.

    Day 11

    El Chalten – El Calafate

    Back on your bike and head further south to the town of El Calafate. Leaving El Chalten retrace your route back to re-join with Ruta 40. There are great views and photo opportunities of Lake Argentina en-route to El Calafate.

    Day 12

    El Calafate

    Ride to the stunning Moreno Glacier. At 30 km long, 5 km wide and 60 m high you will be awestruck by the enormity and grandeur of this spectacular glacier. Enjoy a boat cruise taking you to view the north face of the glacier.

    Day 13

    El Calafate – Torres Del Paine

    A mix of paved roads and good gravel into Chile, will take you into one of the most beautiful national parks in the world, the jewel in the Patagonian crown, Torres Del Paine.

    Days 14 & 15

    Torres Del Paine

    This 181,000-hectare UNESCO Biosphere Reserve contains steppe, southern beech forest, creeping glaciers, rugged mountain trails, sky blue glacial lakes and most importantly the towering peaks of Torres Del Paine. You have two full days to hike the rugged trails throughout the park or ride amongst the many winding roads.

    Day 16

    Torres Del Paine – Cerro Sombrero

    Ride south to Puerto Natales a beautiful town perched above the waters of Seno Ultima Esperanza. Arrive at the Magellan straights for a short 25-minute ferry crossing. Accommodation for the night is at a welcoming Hosteria in Cerro Sombrero, a short ride after the ferry crossing. It’s wild, it’s remote, it’s Patagonia.

    Day 17

    Cerro Sombrero – Ushuaia

    110 km of gravel roads take you from Cerro Sombrero to the border at San Sebastian. You enter Argentina into a beautiful landscape of forests and mountains known as Terra del Fuego. Ride triumphantly into the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia where Antarctica is closer than the capital Buenos Aires.

    Day 18

    Ushuaia

    Why not take a boat cruise on the Beagle channel (Optional Excursion) just as Charles Darwin did? and enjoy your last ride through the Tierra del Fuego National Park where you truly come to the end of the world.

    Day 19

    Ushuaia – Buenos Aires

    Today take a flight up to the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires and spend your last night in one of South America’s most dynamic cities.

    Day 20

    Buenos Aires

    Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

    Total Distance c. 3500 km.
    Approx. 80% sealed roads & 20% dirt roads.
